Typically, "spy" cameras do not have the ability to zoom, however, depending on your target setting, you may have the ability to install a camera further away and zoom in on the target area. Try to look for a camera that has a minimum of a 50mm zoom, which will allow for the camera to be located out of plain view, yet hit the target. Also, you will want one with ultra low lux, and hi-resolution. This will give the ability to capture images at night time with superb imagery. The DVR is going to be specifically designed to record images sent from the camera. You may connect the camera to a VCR that has Composite video input (yellow input port), and record continuously. I would recommend the DVR because, most of the time, you can set it up to record on motion with pre-alarm recording. Check with your local Police dept. they may have contacts to local professional CCTV technicians that will rent the equipment to you. Otherwise, plan to spend a couple grand to get what your looking for.
